Welcome at Lived through it
Hi, I'm Marlies
Survivor. Mother. Believer. Writer.
And a professionally sensitive soul with a talent for finding meaning in chaos (and losing keys.)
My life began in the shadows — not literally under a tree, but figuratively in the mist of trauma, confusion, and a mind that sometimes chooses its own path.
I didn't find the light in a booklet with "10 steps to happiness," or a perfect prayer, but by continuing to stand. Sometimes trembling, sometimes screaming at the sky, but hey — I'm standing.
This place is my voice. My story. My prayer.
I write about trauma, faith, motherhood, recovery, and everything in between — including those moments when you think: "What am I actually doing here?"
Not to shock (although that might be possible sometimes),
but to connect.
Because what you live, you can share.
And what you share, can exist — even if it doesn't fit into a treatment plan or an Instagram filter.
Every column here is a piece of my journey.
Sometimes raw, sometimes hopeful, sometimes with a bit of humor, because humor is cheaper than therapy.
For those who recognize themselves. For those who are searching. For those who dare to feel — Even if that means you first have to cry in the car in the supermarket parking lot.
And yes, also for healthcare professionals — who want to understand what lives behind the diagnoses.
Who dare to look beyond the intake.
Who want to listen to what is not in the file. For those who understand that "functions properly" doesn't always mean that someone is living.
Here they get a glimpse into our world. Not filtered, not analyzed — just as it is.
Welcome. Not to fix. Not to analyze.
Just to read. To feel. And maybe — just for a moment — to understand
in love,
Marlies

Not because you've read everything (although, applause if you have), but because you've paused for a moment at a story that might also touch something of yours.
This place is not a showcase. Not a collection of perfectly rounded insights.
It's a homecoming for those who live with frayed edges.
